Within the leisure markets, Visit London's expenditure will be on:

  • Consumer advertising campaigns
  • Public relations events
  • Developing strategic relationships with the travel trade, targeting individuals and group visits

While we are looking to the future and identifying the opportunities it brings, the current global economic situation raises more immediate challenges to the tourism industry. 

Our programme of activity has been developed with these opportunities and challenges in mind, maximising both short and long term business goals.

Leisure Marketing: Geographical Markets

The largest source markets for London are currently the UK, Western Europe and North America.

Markets such as China, Brazil, Russia and India currently account for a very small proportion of London’s visitors, but display strong potential for the future as their outbound travel market matures and disposable incomes grow.

Above-the-line advertising campaigns and PR activities run in London’s source visitor markets of North America, Europe and the UK.

Below-the-line campaigns run in Australia, and we engage with the travel trade through on-the-ground representation in Japan and India.

Visit London's activity in growth markets is focused on India, China, Russia and Brazil.

Other Marketing Activities

Visit London also targets the youth, luxury, and gay and lesbian segments in territories where most appropriate.

Other ongoing activities include:

  • Brand and image management and development
  • Annual guides and publications
  • Engagement with media and political stakeholders
  • Ensuring a coordinated approach to the Olympic opportunity
