Forest Hill Village

Forest Hill is a leafy village located in South East London. It is bordered by Sydenham, Crystal Palace, Dulwich and Brockley and is set on one of the highest hills in London. Forest Hill provides breathtaking views towards Central London and the North Downs.

Forest Hill's must-see attraction is the Horniman Museum and Gardens. Liberal politician Mr Frederick Horniman started his collection as a hobby after visiting many countries around the world including Egypt, India, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), America and Canada. The museum opened in 1901 and quickly became one of South London's best-loved attractions.

The Horniman Museum is set in 6.5 hectares (16 acres) of beautiful gardens, is free to visitors and also houses a recently refurbished aquarium. The aquarium is home to 100 species of fish, invertebrates, reptiles, amphibians and plants.

Forest Hill is home to the Devonshire Road and Garthorne Road Nature Reserves, both located alongside the railway line.  The Devonshire Road Nature Reserve has been designated a Site of Metropolitan Importance for nature conservation as it is home to one of the finest groups of railside wildlife habitat in London.
