About Somerset House Trust

Within the imposing neoclassical architecture of Somerset House you’ll find a year-round programme of visual and live arts bringing the building alive with surprising and original events.

From Cranach, Rubens and Botticelli to Manet, Cézanne and Van Gogh, the world-renowned Courtauld Gallery has iconic Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masterpieces, as well as numerous other important paintings from the Renaissance through to the 20th century.

The new Embankment Galleries opened in April 2008 in 750 square metres of space with a programme of restless, ideas-driven exhibitions, focusing on a broad range of contemporary arts from fashion and architecture to design and photography.

At the heart of the building the Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court is a spectacular venue for open-air films and concerts in the summer, and the capital’s premier winter ice rink. With family events, cafés and a restaurant, Somerset House is a thriving centre for inspiration and relaxation in the heart of London’s West End.
