Celebrate 20th-century music icon Leonard Bernstein as London's Southbank Centre presents an exciting series of performances, talks and workshops.
The Bernstein Project at London's Southbank Centre
The Southbank Centre is hosting a special series dedicated to Leonard Bernstein; the extraordinary conductor, composer, pianist, lecturer and philanthropist.
Bernstein won 11 Emmy Awards and the Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award for his work, which included compositions for opera, ballet and the much-loved musical, West Side Story.
Bernstein was an inspiration and mentor for many, including acclaimed conductor Marin Alsop who curates the project.
Highlights of The Bernstein Project

Like Bernstein himself, The Bernstein Project promotes young and established talent: welcoming everyone from the London Philharmonic Orchestra to schoolchildren performing songs from West Side Story.
As well as concerts, there are talks and workshops to join in, including a free voice workshop with voice expert Mary King.

About Leonard Bernstein

Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990) was a world-famous American musician. His career highlights included a becoming Music Director of the New York Philharmonic and conducting the world's top orchestras.
Bernstein's compositions range from Jeremiah, The Age of Anxiety and Kaddish, to Broadway scores such as On the Town, Wonderful Town and Candide.
Bernstein also famously collaborated on the musical West Side Story with Stephen Sondheim, Jerome Robbins and Arthur Laurents.
