Endgame at London's Duchess Theatre
Olivier and Tony Award-winning actor Mark Rylance takes to the boards in a new production of the classic one-act play by Samuel Beckett.
Rylance takes on the role of Hamm, which was originally to be played by Richard Briers, while director Simon McBurney steps into Adrian Scarborough's shoes to play Clov.
The strong cast also includes Blackadder favourite Miriam Margolyes as Nell, and Tom Hickey as Nagg.
About Samuel Beckett's Endgame
In Endgame, Nell comments, "Nothing is funnier than unhappiness..." This sets the tone for the play, where tragedy and comedy make unlikely partners.
Aged and blind Hamm and his servant Clov are trapped in daily routine and cut off from the world in a mutually dependent and cranky relationship.
They're joined on stage by the play's other two characters; Hamm's parents Nell and Nagg. Both parents lost their legs in a biking accident.
