Twiggy: A Life in Photographs

The National Portrait Gallery celebrates Twiggy's 60th birthday with a free exhibition of iconic portraits.

Twiggy at the National Portrait Gallery

Before Naomi, Kate and Claudia, Twiggy took the world by storm, becoming the first internationally recognised supermodel.

Since launching her career in the 1960s, Twiggy has been photographed by the world’s leading photographers, including Cecil Beaton, Norman Parkinson, Steven Meisel and many more.

Now the National Portrait Gallery has selected more than 20 of Twiggy's best photos for a free exhibition marking the model's 60th birthday.

While you're at the National Portrait Gallery, don't miss Beatles to Bowie: The 60s Exposed.

About Twiggy

In 1966 Twiggy was photographed by Barry Lategan. The photos appeared in the Daily Express, launching Twiggy as the "face of 1966".

Known for her huge eyes and slim figure, Twiggy was synonymous with swinging Sixties London.

Twiggy went on to work in theatre, film and TV, recently appearing as a judge on America's Next Top Model, and starring in a series of adverts for Marks and Spencer.
